Each year we have the privilege of prayerfully discerning whom God is calling forth as leaders in our congregation by serving on the board of elders of our church.  It is a collaborative process among God, the congregation, the current board of elders, and the Nominating Committee.

The Board:  The Board manages the spiritual and business affairs of our church.  Gifted persons, regardless of age, who demonstrate spiritual maturity and leadership skills are needed in a variety of capacities.

Your Role:  Your role as a congregant—whether you are a member or regular attender at the church—is to assist this discernment process by recommending members to serve on the board of elders.  Recommend members whom you believe would make good, God-honoring leaders.  Recommend those members who help you to see Jesus in vibrant ways, who think about what it means to be God’s people in the world, and who are serious about making a Kingdom difference.

The Process:  The Nominating Committee (Jeanine Bakker, Laura Truax, ex officio, Laura Zumdahl, Larry Reed and Dawn Koch, Chair) will receive this recommendation form until Tuesday, 30 March.  Throughout April the committee will converse with candidates to discern which among them are ready now to answer God’s call.

For Your Reflection: You may want to review some scripture passages about leadership that the apostolic church used:  Eph. 4:1-7, 11-13; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9.  Also consider the leaders whom Jesus gathered around Him and the way of discipleship which He challenged them to follow.
