2011 Elder Nomination at LaSalle

It's that time of year again.

Springtime, yes. However, at LaSalle Street Church, March signals more than just the changing of seasons. It is the time of year when the church's Nominating Committee commences its work to assemble a slate of nominees to fill board of elder positions opening in July 2011.

Before you dive head first into this, take just a couple of minutes to scan over the Who, What, When Where, Why and How's of the Nomination process.

<< WHO? >>

The committee follows a process that percolates up from candidate recommendations from the congregation in March. Working with those recommendations, the committee formalizes a slate in April.

<< WHEN? >>

The members of the church vote on the slate at the annual meeting, this year held on Sunday, 5 June.

Up through 21 March, members and regular attenders may submit candidate recommendations to the committee. These recommendations are well considered by the committee. Although only local members of the church are eligible to serve on the board of elders, recommended candidates not yet members have time to become members before the 5 June annual meeting.

Making a candidate recommendation is easy and takes little time. You can find the recommendation form in three different places:

1. You can find the forms at the back of the sanctuary

2. You can find them In a downloadable form on LSC's Downloads webpage at www.lasallestreetchurch.org/downloads/. Look for the file titled Nomination Form 2011 full final.doc

3. You will find an online form by cicking on the link at the top of this page.

The form asks for three (3) things: the candidate's name, your reason for recommending the candidate, and your name.

Submitting your recommendation form also is easy. You have four options:
1. Personal delivery
2. Mail
3. Fax
4. Online

You may recommend as many candidates as you please on the hard copy and downloadable form. When submitting the online form, please recommend one candidate at a time.

For online submission, you can complete and submit your form with the click of a mouse. Simply click on Online Nomination Form above, fill out the form, then click Submit at the bottom of the form. Your response will be e-mailed directly to Sharon Williams in the church office.

<< WHY? >>

Congregants have many good reasons for making candidate recommendations to the Nominating Committee. Here are a few.
1. You permit God to speak through you about His people next called to serve in LaSalle's leadership.
2. Your candidate recommendation serves to affirm the spiritual and leadership gifts of others at LaSalle, especially if you tell them about your recommendation.
3. You'll feel even better about submitting candidate recommendations at LaSalle than you feel when voting in a presidential primary.

The Nominating Committee looks forward to an abundance of candidate recommendations from the congregation. Remember: your submission deadline is Monday, 21 March.
