Foundations & Flooring: A Project for Our Past & Future
This summer, we are excited to launch our Foundations & Flooring Project—a meaningful effort to refresh and restore the Sanctuary and Lower Level of our historic church building. This initiative has been prayerfully and carefully planned for over a year, and now we’re inviting our whole community to be part of it.
The project includes:
Replacing the worn and unhealthy carpet and tile flooring in our Sanctuary,
Enhancing accessibility in our worship space,
Updating select lighting and audio equipment,
Installing a new Hall of History exhibit in the lower level—honoring the justice movements and faith stories that have shaped who we are.
This is about more than just materials and aesthetics. It’s about creating a space that honors our legacy, welcomes everyone more fully, and supports the next chapter of LaSalle’s ministry. As we approach the 140th Anniversary of our church building in 2026, this project helps us celebrate where we’ve been and prepare for the generations to come.
We are aiming to raise $150,000 in one-time donations throughout May and June. Every gift matters—whether you’re a member, a longtime friend, a visitor, or someone touched by LaSalle’s ministry. Your generosity will help us lay a renewed foundation—literally and spiritually—for our shared life together.
You can learn more about the project and ways to give by visiting lasallefoundations.org, which includes answers to common questions we’ve anticipated, and reflections on why this project matters for our community.
If you have specific questions about giving, feel free to contact our Finance Coordinator, Katie Keilman, at 312-573-8800 ext. 823 or kkeilman@lasallestreetchurch.org.
On Sunday, May 18, members of our Elder Board and Property & Finance Committee will share more about this project during worship. These leadership teams have helped guide this vision and set our fundraising goal, and we're grateful for their leadership.
Thank you for considering how you can participate in this next step for LaSalle—through giving, prayer, or spreading the word. Together, we are preparing our spiritual home for all that God is doing now and all that lies ahead.
