Thank You for Joining Us on Resurrection Sunday!
What a joy it was to talk through both Good Friday and Easter Sunday with so many of you this past weekend! Good Friday was a contemplative time of readings, music, and remembering that Jesus joins us in our humanity and in our waiting through dark places. Resurrection Sunday was a beautiful celebration, filled to the brim with anointed music and guest musicians, choir and our congregational Hallelujah Chorus, video and sermon and scripture and prayer, communion that caused a traffic jam, and so much hospitality, joy, and fun at our Big Day celebration afterwards. Thank you to everyone volunteering and taking part, behind the scenes and up front, who helped make these special gatherings meaningful and places of worship and connection. And special thanks to both our church and TLF staff for the long hours of prep and care that always go into these gatherings, we appreciate you!
Especially on Easter, many of us noted the joy of meeting many new faces, families, and community members, who shared they were moved by the unique vision and community at LaSalle. As God keeps bringing people into our story, our privilege as those already in the pews will be to keep showing generous hospitality and warm welcome to new folks, as well as waiting on God to see where we're all together being led next. Keep praying with our leadership as we seek how to make room at the table in this season together. We had just about every seat filled with an attendance of 225 people in the building on Easter, and a record setting 276 joined us altogether, including online and our kids - thanks be to God for the ways that Good News and expansive faith are being shared and welcomed among us!
A reminder too, if you didn't get our bookmark gift on Easter, please be sure to pick one up in the next few days at church, and online friends contact the church office so we can send a few your way.
This Eastertide season, may you be centered through these reminders - that Jesus makes room for all of us - our weariness and lament, our questions and pain. That you are deeply loved and highly valued, made in the image of God, right now, just as you are. And that the divine love of God has overwhelmed this world to bring an upside kin-dom to our midst! We know that all pain and fear, all injustice and inequity, all confusion and death has already been conquered. Life triumphs over death, love triumphs over hate - beloved, be encouraged this week and in the season to come, He is risen, He is Risen, He is risen indeed! Thanks be to God. - RevLiz
