Welcome Rev. Alexa Dava – Our New Associate Pastor for Kids & Youth!
Dear LaSalle family,
We’re so excited to share some joyful news: Rev. Alexa Dava is joining our staff as LaSalle’s new Associate Pastor for Kids and Youth! Alexa will officially begin on July 20 and will be serving part-time as she steps into this important role.
Rev. Alexa Dava
Alexa brings with her a deep care for children and families, a wealth of experience from over a decade of ministry across the Midwest, and theological and cultural insight that will beautifully support LaSalle’s diverse and growing community. We are so grateful to welcome her to the team.
You'll have opportunities to meet Alexa in the coming weeks as she begins to connect with families, youth, and the broader congregation. We look forward to introducing her in person during a Sunday service soon after she starts.
Below is a short bio from Alexa to help you get to know her a bit better—we can’t wait for you to meet her in person. Alexa will be joining the Midsummer Pizza & Movie Night for families at our home (VerHages) — sign up here if you’d like your family to meet her there. We’re so excited!
With gratitude,
Rev. Liz
Rev. Alexa Dava is passionate about collaborating with local churches as worksites of God's creative transformation and healing. For 10+ years, she has served in a diverse range of churches in Chicagoland and the greater Midwest. Her vocational call began in kids ministry, so she is thrilled to join this expansive, both/and community as Associate Pastor for Kids and Youth. Alexa is an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination. She holds a Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Wheaton College. Beyond local churches, Alexa also works for the World Council of Churches, where she supports churches in fostering dignity and alleviating suffering related to reproductive health.
Alexa finds joy in sharing meals with loved ones, wandering art museums, and fangirling at concerts by women in pop. After two years in Lexington, KY, Rev. Alexa and her husband, Jack, return to Chicago this summer, where they will live on the border of Avondale/Logan Square (importantly, about a ten-minute drive from Seafood City).
